WORK EXPERIENCE
Dr. Juan C. Levesque is a certified American Fisheries Society Fisheries Professional with over 25 years’ experience studying marine resources. Specializing in fisheries biology, he has substantial project management, field, and technical experience overseeing complex marine and freshwater resource projects throughout the continental U.S., western North Atlantic Ocean, including the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. Given Dr. Levesque’s previous background with state and federal agencies, and his understanding of the regulatory process, environmental requirements, and technical experience, he brings a unique combination of capabilities to a project on behalf of clients in various sectors. In addition, Dr. Levesque has significant experience conducting data analyses and drafting a variety of technical documents, including peer-review publications. His expertise and experience is broad. Besides having experience working with nearshore and offshore species and environments, Dr. Levesque has worked with many different taxa from fish to marine mammals. He not only has experience studying and collecting taxa in the marine environment, but has experience working in small and large freshwater rivers. Dr. Levesque has set gillnets and used electrofishing gear from Boulder Creek in Boulder, CO to the Hudson River in Waterford, NY. Working as Fishery Manager, he also has extensive experience drafting fishing regulations and documents to meet numerous federal mandates.
